Filmmaking is a core activity for Urban Wilderness. Producing a short film highlighting the experiences and outcomes of a project is a fantastic way of evaluating and promoting the impact of the project. Short films are increasingly popular on social media to summarise activities and disseminate information and filmmaking is a great way to engage young people who are familiar with the format of YouTube and online sharing.
We have digital cameras, action cameras and tripods which we provide to young people on our projects with support and encouragement to record and document their experiences. They enjoy the process, improve their skills with digital technology and have the ability to share their knowledge with friends and family and the outside world. They’re given a voice.
