ART CLUB
4:30pm to 6:00pm on THURSDAYS during term time
For 8-17 year olds
Art Club is an artist-led space at our studio in Longton Exchange Shopping Centre for young people to take part in creative activities that support wellbeing and mental health.
Each week offers a creative activity inspired by the work of a contemporary artist, with art materials and digital equipment provided. All members are provided with their own sketchbooks for notes, drawings and doodles.
Sessions are led by co-director Laurel Gallagher with artist/facilitator Daby Obiechefu and supported by co-directors Isla Telford and Jenny Harper. All staff are trained in safeguarding and have clear DBS checks.
We are not trained therapists but our workshops offer a safe creative space where children and young people build confidence, social skills and wellbeing. We have experience working with children and young people who suffer from anxiety, have diagnosed or undiagnosed autism or other neuro divergent conditions.
“I now have a permanent smile on my face!” - Art Club member
All Art Clubs are FREE to attend. We request a contribution of £5 per child per session towards art materials and running costs, but this does not affect your child’s ability to attend.
We have a maximum of 15 places available and are currently fully booked. Please complete the form below to register your interest and we will contact you when a place becomes available. For more information contact info@urbanwildernesscic.com.
ACCESSIBILITY
Our studio is step-free and wheelchair accessible. Toilets are gender-neutral but located up two flights of stairs, which may be difficult for those with accessibility needs. The nearest accessible toilet is at The Coffee House, around 500m away. Please contact us at info@urbanwildernesscic.com to discuss any access needs for your child.
“I just want to thank you for putting this on. [My child] is really struggling mentally at school and we struggle to get him in but he absolutely loves art club even though his face doesn’t show it. He talks a lot about he is doing and has been inspired…thank you for making a difference” - Art Club parent
