Engaging young people in local heritage through creative photography.
As part of Reverberate, a national programme supporting grassroots organisations to enable young people (aged 11–25) to explore their heritage, Urban Wilderness CIC collaborated with the CAFAG youth club.
Through guided photo walks, participants explored their neighbourhoods in the shadow of an abandoned coal mine, reflecting on what heritage means to them and how the local landscape holds traces of industrial history. The project encouraged creativity, connection, and personal storytelling, demonstrating how young people can re-discover, re-imagine, and share local heritage with their communities.
