Feminist Film Club

Feminist Film Club is a space for those who love film and want to build a community around women-led cinema. We host free film screenings on the last Thursday of every month, 7:30pm - 10pm

Our mission is to champion films made by women and non-binary filmmakers from around the world, and to make space for conversations that reflect on gender, identity, power and representation. Through screenings and open discussion, we aim to build a diverse and inclusive film culture in Stoke-on-Trent — one that centres the voices and experiences of women.

After the screening, we invite everyone to join a discussion. Each session includes an info sheet to provide a little more context about the film and director. You're welcome to watch the film and leave, but we'd love for you to stay and take part in the conversation!

Feel free to bring your own snacks! We also have snacks, hot drinks, and beers available - just pop a 'pay as you feel' donation in the pot. For extra comfort, we provide cushions and blankets, perfect for chilly evenings!

Feminist Film Club is hosted by Urban Wilderness CIC and curated by artist Blythe Taylor. To join the mailing list and to find out what films will be on contact feministfilmclubstoke@outlook.com

Feminist Film Club is part of Spotlight on Staffordshire made possible with support from the BFI using funds from the National Lottery. For more on the Spotlight programme please see here.

ACCESSIBILITY

The venue is step-free and wheelchair accessible. Toilets are gender-neutral but located up two flights of stairs, which may be difficult for those with accessibility needs. The nearest accessible toilet is at Tesco Extra, a five-minute walk away.

Longton Train Station is less than a 5-minute walk from the venue. There are multiple bus stops along The Strand, with services to and from Newcastle and Hanley.

We do not usually screen English-language films with subtitles however these can be set-up upon request.
