Would you like to learn more about public art? Do you enjoy meeting new people and talking about ideas?

We need Artwork Ambassadors to be on-site with the artworks and engage the public in conversation and debate about what the artwork means to them.

Would you like to explore new placemaking techniques? Do you enjoy working outdoors and transforming physical spaces?

We need Festival Placemakers to work with the art installation team and transform overlooked spaces into places that makes people stop and feel differently about a familiar place.

Urban Wilderness are running 2 x Festival Volunteer Training sessions for anyone interested in joining our festival team.

Mon 6th Sept: 11am-1pm: during the Artwork Ambassador session you will:

  • learn about the artists and new artworks

  • discuss and debate the issues being raised by the artworks

  • workshop public engagement techniques

Tues 7th Sept: 11am-1pm: during the Festival Placemaking session you will:

  • learn about the artworks and how they will be installed

  • discuss your ideas for on-site placemaking that will engage the public with the space, the artwork and represent The Happenings branding

  • experiment with a range of materials and techniques to transform your ideas in physical spaces

Workshops will be held at the old Etruria Gasometer site, we will meet in front of the Etruria Industrial Heritage building and move to the site together.

We will provide refreshments and snacks, please wear weather appropriate outdoor clothing.
