New Program of Artist-led Walks, Talks and Workshops
Urban Wilderness CIC invite you to walk with, talk to, and create with artists and nature in this gentle program which looks towards a more balanced world. We are calling these sessions ‘In the Balance’ as we look back at recent art works and forwards to what you can make, change, or discuss to bring our planet closer to sustainability.
These monthly sessions invite discussions on youth voice, racial equity, material use, imaginiative leaps, and global perspectives, prompted by artist-led screenings, workshops and exhibitions. We believe that this is a time for radical re-positioning, and this is work best done collectively.
Please join us for the launch of ‘In The Balance’, for an evening of walks and award-winning film screenings which both take a long-view of landscape. Ben Miller is the curatorial director of Stoke Museums collections. He grew up exploring Berry Hill Fields, one of the largest green spaces in the city. Through his walking lecture he will take us beyond our familiar narrative of our industrial heritage back into prehistory as we find out about the fish fossils that are mixed into the earth. We will also share the award-winning short film Fawley by Chu Li Shewring and Adam Gutch.

Fawley won Best International Short Film at Sheffield Doc-Fest in 2022. It was co-produced by Urban Wilderness and funded by Keele University’s AHRC project Decommissioning the 20th Century.
