My Internship At Urban Wilderness CIC
I am a 16-year old who just finished their GCSEs and has been in need of something productive to fill my now seemingly endless time with. During the extended summer break before I start my A-Levels, I have been working two days a week as an intern for Urban Wilderness CIC.
I have been performing a number of tasks, ranging from moving and painting to website SEO optimisation and improving and cultivating databases. During this time I have developed new skills, some of which I never even knew existed beforehand; I have learned how to print patterned fabric onto Plastazote, a material used for carnival costume making, I have learned to use website development tools, and I have developed my abilities in utilising spreadsheet software. In addition, I have gained experience working with electrical equipment such as speakers and projectors, and in social media campaigning.
The work balance of the internship has been good, as though I have often spent many hours on some tasks, there have been lunch breaks and changes of activity throughout each day, allowing me to cultivate many skills, and not burn out from overworking myself.
Overall, I have found that my experience has been tailored to my abilities and needs, as well as a useful experience of a workplace environment. It has often been interesting and informative, and I have enjoyed my time with Urban Wilderness
